The Project

The project “Mediterranean: Pool of cultures and religions” is a Partnership Building Activity organized by Ananda Cooperativa Cultural, funded by the European Commission trough the Youth in Action Program due to the necessity of underlining the existence of historical and cultural linking among regions even if the Mediterranean has been a physical obstacle.

This Partnership Building Activity will be held from 2 to 7 of April 2010 in Setúbal, a charming Portuguese city close to Lisbon that has the same difficulties and challenges that most of the participating countries face in the Mediterranean basin. With that in mind, we will defy and face common issues between the intercultural identities and different religions, creating a base for a partnership platform that will allow us all to work on projects and activities that address these issues.

The project wants the 24 participants from the 12 participating countries to be more aware of the various identities a culture and religious context it has, how deep they are, how strongly they can influence every days' decisions and how they interfere with relationships with others.

The aim of this project is to raise visibility of the Youth in Action programme opportunities and design new networking projects for cooperation between EU and EUROMED countries. All participants will have the chance to share their experience as youth workers, their knowledge and skills in working with youngsters, especially those from less advantaged backgrounds.
